Before English 110I did not have a full understanding of the difference between a rough draft and a final draft. When transitioning my first draft into a polished final draft I would not add or delete text that I had previously put there because I felt that if there was nothing wrong with it why touch it. I did not know that adding or deleting text could make my paper significantly better in the end. I think before this class when I would edit my first draft papers into final drafts I would look more at punctuation and word choice rather than content and organizations. I remember before participating in this class I would look at rough drafts and just replace words with other words I would find in the thesaurus but didn’t necessarily fully understand the meaning of. I did this because that’s what I saw in others writing. Early into the semester, I was really only able to spot small errors but now as the semester is coming to an end I think that I can spot errors in my paper that is much bigger then punctuation. For instance, in my Paper three first and final draft I looked more at making connections between paragraphs and integrating quotes, but also integrating ‘I say’ into my text as well.
